PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable stroke Miller-cycle engine achieving reduced number of components and reduced initial cost of a device, as a variable stroke device for increasing an expansion ratio in comparison with a compression ratio without providing the operating mechanism of an intake valve and a supercharger. Ž
SOLUTION: This variable stroke Miller-cycle engine 10 includes a connecting rod 14, a crankshaft 12, and a piston 16. The small end portion of the connecting rod 14 is connected to the piston 16 and the large end portion thereof is formed with a circular through-hole. The through-hole is formed with an internal gear 36 having the number of teeth three times the number of teeth of an external gear 30. An eccentric disc 40 is rotatably fitted into the through-hole. The external gear 30 fixed by inserting a throw portion is sandwiched between the crank arm portions 26 of the crankshaft 12, and the external gear 30 is engaged with the internal gear 36.
