<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a gap between the surface of a fixing roller and the leading end edge of a sheet separation plate with high accuracy. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sheet separation plate 51 is attached to the leading end of a mounting base 52, first adjustment screws 53 and 54 are disposed near both ends of the sheet separation plate 51, and the leading ends of these screws are made to abut on the circumferential faces 63b1 and 64b1 of ball bearings 63 and 64 supporting the fixing roller 42. A shaft portion 52e on the basal end side and right end side of the mounting base 52 is supported by a circular first support portion 56 made through a right frame 61. A shaft portion 52f on the basal end side and left end side of the mounting base is supported by a vertical-groove-shaped second support portion 57 formed in a left frame 62. Since the shaft portion 52f can move vertically along the second support portion 57, a gap G can be adjusted by the first and the second adjustment screws 53 and 54 with high accuracy.
