The invention relates to a method for testing a container for leaks, comprising: a first step (102) in which a background noise of volatile organic compound in a chamber at atmospheric pressure is measured by a trace sensor of volatile organic compounds; and a second step (105) in which a concentration of volatile organic compound is measured in the chamber at atmospheric pressure containing a container defining a bounded internal space in which a volatile organic compound is present, using the trace sensor of volatile organic compounds, which step includes comparing the background noise reading with the reading of the concentration of volatile organic compound, so that any leak from said container under test is detected. The invention also relates to a device for testing a container for leaks, comprising a chamber (5) at atmospheric pressure and designed to receive a container (3) for testing, comprising a trace sensor of volatile organic compounds (7) having a fluid connection to the chamber (5), a decontamination means, and a processing unit (9) capable of comparing the readings of said sensor (7) in order to produce information about any leaks from said test container (3) and capable of carrying out the test method as described above. |
