<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner maintaining high developability even in a long-term use in a severe environment such as high temperature and high humidity or low temperature and low humidity and having electrostatic offset resistance and less tailing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The toner is a magnetic toner containing at least a binder resin, a polymer (A) and magnetic iron oxide, and is characterized in that: the magnetic iron oxide contains at least one element α selected from Si, Ti, Al, Mg and Zn; the dissolving rate of the element α is ≥50% and ≤100% with respect to the whole elements possessed by the magnetic iron oxide when the dissolving rate of Fe is 20%; the polymer (A) is a polymer or a copolymer having a sulfonic acid group, sulfonate group or sulfonic acid ester group; and the magnetic toner is manufactured through a surface modification process by hot blast.
