PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication device and a method which have a structure comprising a plurality of antennas, and can maintain a necessary receiving quality while reducing a power consumption irrespective of a use situation during a user communication. SOLUTION: This radio communication device comprises a first case and a second case connected to the first case so as to be opened and closed, and has at least one antenna in each of the first case and the second case. The radio communication device has: a case state detecting part 15 for detecting a case state based on an opening/closing state of the first case 17a and the second case 17b; an antenna control part 12 for controlling at least one of the plurality of antennas 11a to 11c in receiving and/or transmitting a radio signal; and a timing adjusting part 16 for adjusting a receiving control timing in the antenna control part 12 in response to the case state detected by the case state detecting part 15.
