Provided is an electrical connector wherein a protection circuit is arranged for protecting a circuit on a circuit board whereupon the electrical connector is mounted, degree of freedom in forming the protection circuit is high, and a large mounting area is not required even the electrical connector has a multipole contact. The electrical connector is mounted on the circuit board, and has a housing (3), and a plurality of contacts (10), which are connected to the circuit board, brought into contact with a contact to be connected on a connector to be connected with and attached to a housing (3). The electrical connector is also provided with a semiconductor element (30) housed in the housing (3). The contact (10) is grounded through an overvoltage protection element arranged in the semiconductor element (30). |
