<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active ingredient having remarkable reducing effects on uric acid value in serum, and excellent safety, and useful as treating/prophylactic measures for hyperuricemia in daily life. <P>SOLUTION: A reducing agent for the uric acid value in the serum includes one or more kinds selected from among phloroglucinol, a polymer thereof, and a tamarind extract as the active ingredient. Furthermore, the reducing agent for the uric acid value in the serum includes anserine as the active ingredient.
