<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive and its control method in which a laser diode is controlled stably without affecting to other data by recording a test pattern in at least one region out of a run-in area and a run-out area of a recording unit block and detecting the characteristics of the laser diode. <P>SOLUTION: This is the control method of the optical laser disk drive being characterized in that the laser diode is controlled such that a test pattern is recorded in at least one of a header and a tail of the recording unit block including data area having predetermined size, input/output characteristics of the laser diode are detected using the recorded test pattern, and target output is generated on the basis of the detected input/output characteristics. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
