<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a time necessary for probing and shorten a time necessary for treating a biological structure. <P>SOLUTION: A power supply apparatus for an operation supplies a driving signal of a resonance frequency to drive a surgical instrument. A discriminating part discriminates a hand piece 2 as the surgical instrument connected to the power supply apparatus. A control circuit as a setting part sets a frequency probing condition in accordance with the surgical instrument identified by the discriminating part.
