PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a vegetable fiber molded form which can inhibit the positional deviation of a preboard. SOLUTION: This method of manufacturing the vegetable fiber molded form 12 comprises (1) a heating process to heat the preboard 10 made up of a mixture of a vegetable fiber and a thermoplastic resin fiber in a heating furnace 30, and (2) a full-dress molding process to perform a full-dress molding of the heated preboard 10, using a full-dress molding die 40. In addition, this method is characteristic in that the preboard 10 is retained by a retention device 20 during the period from the conveyance of the preboard 10 into the heating furnace 30 until the full-dress molding of the preboard 10 by the full-dress mold 40.
