PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shredder capable of effectively preventing the sudden fall of shredded waste in a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The shredder A relating to this embodiment is provided with a shutter 5 provided so as to open and close a shredded waste discharge port 21 by a sliding operation to be pressurized and opened by a waste container 4 when it is inserted, a first temporarily holding element X for closing the shutter 5 following the waste container 4 when it is detached, and a second temporarily holding element Y for temporarily holding the shutter 5 at a closing position (C). By the configuration, the first temporarily holding element X suitably performs the opening operation of the shutter 5 corresponding to the sliding operation of the shutter 5, and the second temporarily holding element Y temporarily holds the shutter 5 at the closing position (C) suitably.
