<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide presence information to a heterogeneous network, and to display the presence information by an image. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the presence service system, an SIP application server 24 is provided in a first network 11, and the presence information of an SIP terminal 13a (first terminal) using SIP in the first network 11 for communication is converted to a format enabling transmission to a PC 14a (second terminal) used in a second network 12 differing from the first one 11. Further, an optional image registered in a content server 22 is related to the presence information of the SIP terminal 13a to transmit the image to the PC 14a as the presence information of the SIP terminal 13a.
