<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus which can make a printed object having a high film strength without depending on the environmental temperature in such a manner that a compact and inexpensive ultraviolet irradiation apparatus is used, and images of a high picture quality are formed over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: This ultraviolet curing type inkjet recording apparatus has a to-be-recorded medium carrying means, an inkjet head which forms images by discharging an ink composition which can be cured by an ultraviolet ray, and the ultraviolet irradiation means which cures the ink composition discharged on the to-be-recorded medium by irradiating the to-be-recorded medium with the ultraviolet ray. An ultraviolet ray generating light source in the ultraviolet irradiation means is an aperture type hot cathode fluorescent tube.
