<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of ensuring security at the time when XPS (Extensible markup language paper specification) data is printed, a security managing method and a security processing program. <P>SOLUTION: The security managing method in an image forming apparatus performing a printing processing based on the XPS data, executes at least first, second, third and fourth steps. In the first step, compressed XPS data are extended. In the second step, among constitutional elements of the extended XPS data, those elements the predetermined degree of importance of which are at a predetermined level or higher are specified, the specified elements are stored in a volatile memory (e.g., RAM) and the elements other than the specified elements are stored in a secondary storing device (e.g., HDD). In the third step, the extended XPS data stored in the volatile memory and the secondary storing device are converted to bitmap data.
