<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type display device with a rugged reflective surface comprising a pixel electrode without requiring a specified structure, and to provide a method of manufacturing the display device. <P>SOLUTION: The reflection type display device 1-1 includes: a thin-film transistor Tr disposed on a substrate 3; a base insulation film 17 having a rugged surface disposed on the substrate 3 while covering the thin-film transistor Tr; and a pixel electrode 19 connected to the thin-film transistor Tr via a connection hole 17a consisting of a reflection film covering the rugged surface of the base insulation film 17 and formed in the base insulation film 17 is disposed between the substrate 3 and the base insulation film 17, wherein an insulating partition layer 13 which is patterned in accordance with the rugged surface of the base insulation film 17.
