<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, determining whether or not the replaced waste toner collecting container is new or used, and conducting suitable control to prevent overflow of waste toner and breakage of a machine even in the case of a used one. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a waste toner calculating means for calculating the quantity of waste toner in the waste toner collecting container; a determining means for determining whether or not the waste toner collecting container is properly replaced with an empty waste toner collecting container; and an amount control means for limiting the print enabling amount after detecting that the container is nearly full of the waste toner based on the determination means, whereby it can be determined whether or not the waste toner collecting container is properly replaced with an empty collecting container (a new one), and the print-enabling amount after detecting the nearly full container state can be limited based on the determination, so that it is possible to surely prevent overflow of the waste toner and the machine trouble due to the use of a used collecting container. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
