<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an information processing apparatus in a power saving state to send information about data managed by the information processing apparatus while maintaining the power saving state as far as possible when receiving external acquisition requests for information about the data. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 has an image forming apparatus body 101 to 107 that is powered off in a power saving state, and an NIC 112 that remains powered on even in the power saving state. Management information about information managed in an HDD 104 is stored in an NIC RAM 115 of the NIC 112. When the image forming apparatus 100 is in the power saving state, an NIC CPU 113 of the NIC 112 processes an external request without recovery from the power saving state if the request can be processed according to the management information stored in the NIC RAM 115, or recovers the image forming apparatus 100 from the power saving state to activate the main CPU 101 and others if the request cannot be processed according to the management information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
