<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an imaging optical system that has a high resolution even at a wide viewing angle. Ž<P>SOLUTION: First to third reflecting mirrors are disposed without blocking a ray of incident light. The second reflecting mirror has a diaphragm for determining an aperture diameter for a ray of incident light. Each value is set so that a parameter ε defined by curvature radii of the first to third reflecting mirrors, face intervals between the reflecting mirrors and the focal distance of the imaging optical system may satisfy ¾ε¾<0.0001.
