<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for wheels capable of increasing the hardness of a surface of an inner surface portion of a recess on the center side of a pilot part as a part desired for the sufficient strength and fatigue strength against the high stress and the cyclic stress in a limited manner, and suppressing degradation of the productivity caused by an increase in the number of steps. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A hub 14 has a pilot part 20 which is projected from a root part of a flange 17 for fitting wheels to guide wheels and braking parts on an end face on the outboard side. A part on the center side from the pilot part 20 at the end face on the outboard side of the hub 14 forms a recess 40 in the axial direction. A base material portion of the hub 14 has a normal texture, and the hub has a portion 30 of a nonstandard texture on a surface of an inner surface part of the recess 40 at the end face.
