<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe device or the like, capable of attaining satisfactory ultrasonic imaging without limiting image resolution and observation object range by enabling control of the size of aperture length. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The aperture length H is extended or contracted so as to be small when imaging a near range and to be large when imaging a far range. The attitude of each ultrasonic probe is controlled, in association with the extension and contraction of the aperture length, so that an imaging area is contained in the ultrasonic directivity angle width from each ultrasonic probe.
