The device has a lying part telescopically movable in guides (6, 7) and removably lockable at the guides. The guides are attached to a connection part (8) at a lower side of a chair seat (2). An end part of a frame part lying in the guides is expandable for locking at the guides in a controlled manner. The end part comprises two wedge bodies movable in relation to each other. The end part is provided with a toothing at an inner wall of the guides. The toothing is in removable engagement with another toothing.
