PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a straight type displacement measuring device which can accurately measure straight displacement, while using a small-sized linear sensor, which is inexpensive accordingly and facilitates a dust prevention and moreover which dispenses with an operation for recognition of the position of the origin and is adopted suitably as a detecting device of a stroke amount of a lift cylinder of a special operation vehicle such as a dump truck. SOLUTION: The straight type displacement measuring device measures the stroke amount of a projecting-retracting rod 7 which is so constituted as to be displaceable in a manner of reciprocating projection and retraction in relation to a casing 6. A movable part 51 which is displaced according to the projection-retraction displacement of the rod 7, a converting mechanism which makes the stroke amount of the rod 7 small and transmits it to the movable part 51, and the linear sensor 53 of an absolute type, which detects the amount of displacement of the movable part 51, are assembled and fitted to the inside of the rod 7 and the casing 6. The stroke amount of the projecting-retracting rod 7 can be detected by detecting the amount of displacement of the movable part 51 by a sensor head 60 through a sensor rod 59 of the linear sensor 53.
