<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an on-vehicle machine enabling a user to instruct reproduction of a file such as a music file even in a situation where the user is unable to closely observe the screen of the on-vehicle machine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An on-vehicle device is provided with a display monitor for displaying an image, a music selection means for performing control so that displaying of a music file group in order of hierarchy on the display monitor enables selection of a desired music file when a predetermined operation is performed during a vehicle stop, and a music playing control means for inhibiting, when the predetermined operation is performed during vehicle running, the selection control of the music selection means to start reproduction of the music file group.
