<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake shoe can restrain a brake squeak caused by a shape of a drum. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This brake shoe 1 is provided for generating braking force by being pressed to the drum 6 having a disc part 6a and a cylindrical part 6b, and has a lining 2. The lining 2 is forming in a substantially square shape of respectively positioning the apex A and the apex D, and the apex B and the apex C on a diagonal line. When set to an optional pint (a) at which a distance up to the apex A becomes shorter than a distance of the other apex, an optional point (b) at which a distance up to the apex B becomes shorter than a distance up to the other apex, an optional point (c) at which a distance up to the apex C becomes shorter than a distance up to the other apex and an optional point (d) at which a distance up to the apex D becomes shorter than a distance up to the other apex, hardness of the lining in the optional points (a, b, c and d) is the softest in the hardness in the optional point (a), and is the hardest in the hardness in the optional point (d).
