<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor capable of preventing a bearing unit and a rotating part from shifting downward relative to a base member, and capable of precisely determining the height positions of the bearing unit and the rotating part relative to the base member without depending on the machining accuracy of the member. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A flange part 312 is formed inside the base member 31, and an inclined upper surface 312a of the flange part 312 and an inclined lower surface 341a of a sleeve 34 are opposed to each other via an adhesive 36. The sleeve 34 is supported by the flange part 312 in the axial direction, so that the sleeve 34 is prevented from shifting downward even when a downward force acts on the rotating part 4. Moreover, the height positions of the sleeve 34 and the rotating part 4 relative to the base member 31 can be precisely determined without depending on the machining accuracy of the base member 31 or the sleeve 34 since the adhesive 36 is interposed between the inclined upper surface 312a and the inclined lower surface 341a.
