<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high load transmission belt for securing sufficient joining strength by using a sewing thread for joining the ends of a cover canvas arranged on the surface of a center belt while suppressing the problems that the thread is cut or stuck out to the side face of the belt during mounting blocks, because the sewing thread is free from snag or flotation after joining them. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method is provided for the high load transmission belt which comprises the center belt 3 having protruded strip portions 21 and recessed strip portions 19 alternately formed in the cross direction of the belt, and the plurality of blocks 2 provided at predetermined pitches along the longitudinal direction for engaging with the recessed strip portions 19 of the center belt 3, wherein at least the single face of the center belt 3 is covered with the cover canvas 10. Herein, the cover canvas 10 has ends joined to each other with the sewing thread 22, and the used sewing thread 22 for joining them has a melting point of 100-150°C.
