The method involves converting a synchronous signal e.g. three-level synchronization signal, of a main camera (1) into a control signal e.g. transistor-transistor logic signal, that is adapted to a satellite camera (2). The control signal is transmitted to the satellite camera and an evaluation unit e.g. personal computer. A satellite data block is produced by the camera during receiving the control signal, where the data block is smaller than a main data block. The satellite block is transmitted to the evaluation unit. Sequences of the data blocks are synchronously recorded. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for synchronous recording of video data streams of different formats.
