<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide superior emission control performance, while reducing the quantity of active oxygen being used, in an exhaust emission control device of an internal combustion engine capable of reducing toxic components in exhaust by using the active oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control device of the internal combustion engine has an oxidation catalyst 20 arranged in an exhaust passage 15 of the internal combustion engine 10, an Ag including NOx catalyst 21 arranged on the downstream side of the oxidation catalyst 20, an active oxygen supply device 27 supplying the active oxygen between the oxidation catalyst 20 and the Ag including NOx catalyst 21, a temperature information acquiring means for acquiring information on the temperature of the Ag including NOx catalyst 21, and a control means for controlling supply of the active oxygen by the active oxygen supply device 27 based on this information.
