摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine capable of executing S regeneration control while preventing excessive temperature rise of a filter. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device for the internal combustion engine includes the filter collecting particulate matter in exhaust gas and a NOx storage reduction catalyst storing and reducing NOx, disposed in an exhaust passage, and is provided with a control means such as ECU. The control means makes temperature of the NOx storage reduction catalyst get to target temperature and sets target temperature according to accumulation quantity of the particulate matter on the filter during sulfur regeneration control of the NOx storage reduction catalyst.
