<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus for sufficiently extending a dynamic range to a video signal to which undershoot or overshoot is added, and of displaying in an original state of contents even when a monitoring function of video signal distribution information is installed to a product. <P>SOLUTION: In an image processing apparatus, an input video signal is input to an edge detector 2, and an edge detection results is input to an overshoot-undershoot corrector 3, and the video signal in a predetermined region based on the edge detection results is masked. The video signal from which the overshoot and the undershoot are removed is input to a maximum and minimum values detector 4, and the minimum and the maximum values of the video signal each for one frame are detected based on the information. The minimum and the maximum values are input to a dynamic range extender 5, and gradation correction of the video signal is carried out based on the results to extend a dynamic range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
