<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing method capable of separating a signal component and an artifact component if such a large artifact as movement of hands/feet, sobbing, shaking or coughing is mixed; and to provide a pulse photometer using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The signal processing method is for separating a brain wave signal and an artifact signal from two measurement signals extracted from the same medium. The signal processing method is characterized by the separation of the measurement signal vectors based on the two measurement signals according to a norm ratio of a stable zone of the brain wave signal and a corrected norm ratio of the artifact zone in separating the measurement signal vectors into a brain wave signal vector and an artifact signal vector by using a separation matrix.
