<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing alkylphenol isomers capable of more efficiently obtaining the isomers. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method of preparing alkylphenol isomers in the presence of an acid catalyst, preferably a solid acid catalyst such as a zeolite, for example isomerizing an o-alkylphenol to prepare its isomers i.e., a m-alkylphenol and a p-alkylphenol, is characterized by irradiating the reaction mass with a microwave. The reaction temperature is from about 60 to about 450°C, the reaction pressure is from about 0.3 to about 60 atm, and the reaction time is from about 1 to about 120 minutes.
