<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided a control apparatus for a general-purpose engine preventing stall of an internal combustion engine at start and improving fuel economy performance and emission performance by completing warming up operation performed with increased fuel quantity as quick as possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Temperature of the internal combustion engine is detected (S10). First warming up time T1 and second warming up time T2 which is longer than the first warming up time are determined based on the detected temperature of the internal combustion engine (S12). Quantity of fuel supplied to the internal combustion engine is increased (S18, S20) until a time elapsing after start of the internal combustion engine exceeds a first warming up time T1. Operation of the electric motor is controlled so as to reduce change speed of throttle opening of the throttle valve (S24, S32) until the elapsing time exceeds a second warming up time T2 after the elapsing time exceeds the first warming up time T1.
