<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To operate an ion conductive element using an ion conductive layer at a higher speed. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A circuit device includes: the ion conductive element including a first electrode 101, a second electrode 102, and an ion conductive layer 103 disposed between the first electrode 101 and the second electrode 102; a bipolar operation control part 104 for controlling the operation of the ion conductive element by application of a positive voltage and application of a negative voltage to the ion conductive element; and a single polarity operation control part 105 for controlling the operation of the ion conductive element by application of a different negative voltage to the first electrode 101.
