ROLE-BASED OPERATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTORY

A role-based operational directory (10) capable of facilitating identification of and communication with key contact personnel during an operation is disclosed. Role-specific directory instances are created in the directory (10, 120). The role-specific instances are created (120) by a system operator (20) and list the roles involved in an operation and the associations between the roles (110). The role-specific directory instance is advertised (130) to a selected user (40), and the selected user (40) associates with the role-specific directory instance (135, 137). If the user is a key contact for the operation or is otherwise required or allowed to be associated with a role in the operation, the user (40) also associates with a role from the list of roles in the role-specific directory instance (142, 144, 146). The directory instance is dynamically updated, modified, and tailored as necessary (120), and transmitted to the communication devices (50) of the selected users (40) of the role-specific directory instance (170, 180).
