PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for detecting traffic attack based on an SNMP are provided to reduce a load of a system due to polling by dividing normal traffic and attack traffic based on an MIB data value. CONSTITUTION: An MIB(Management Information Base) data collecting unit(110) collects MIB data from a network terminal apparatus at a predetermined period. A data value of the MIB data is changed by traffic congestion attack in MIB(Management Information Base) data of an SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol). If an upper layer delivery ratio of a datagram by the MIB data value is smaller than a preset reference delivery ratio, an attack sign detector(120) determines network traffic of the network terminal apparatus as attack traffic. An attack type determiner(130) determines a kind of the traffic flooding attach according to a change of an OID(Object Identifier) per a protocol by the MIB data value.
