<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the wear resistance, corrosion resistance and surface smoothness of a developer regulating member for regulating the layer thickness of a two-component developer on a developer carrier by use of magnetic force, thereby obtaining good images over a long period. <P>SOLUTION: A developing apparatus 18 includes a developer including a nonmagnetic toner and a magnetic carrier; a housing 20 holding the developer; a rotatable developer carrier 39 for carrying the developer on its outer peripheral surface; and a developer regulating member 29 disposed oppositely to the outer peripheral surface of the developer carrier 39 via a regulated area 72 for regulating the layer thickness of the developer on the developer carrier 39, the developer being conveyed as the developer carrier 39 rotates. The developer regulating member 29 comprises a regulating member body 51 and a magnetic plating layer 52 formed in such a way as to cover at least the portion of the regulating member body 51 opposite to the developer carrier 39. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
