<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical anisotropic film which performs optical rotation operation and has the small wavelength dependency of the optical rotation operation in a visible light range. <P>SOLUTION: The optical anisotropic film which develops a nematic phase or a smectic phase and contains at least one kind of a liquid crystal compound which has birefringence Δn(λ) satisfying a numerical expression (1) of Δn(450 nm)/Δn(550 nm) <1 to a wavelength λ of the liquid crystal phase, molecules of the liquid crystal compound in the optical anisotropic film fixed in an alignment state that they are twisted along the thickness of the film. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
