DISPLAY DEVICE, PANEL, BACKLIGHT, AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance light use efficiency and saturation of display color of a display device as compared with the conventional pixel division drive method while suppressing a sub-frame frequency.

SOLUTION: The display includes a panel having a plurality of pixel formation part arranged two-dimensionally, and a first light source and a second light source having mutually different light emission spectra for irradiating the pixel formation part. The pixel formation part is composed of: a first sub-pixel formation part having a first color filter for radiating transmissive light of a first color when being irradiated with the first light source and radiating transmissive light of a second color when being irradiated with the second light source; and a second sub-pixel formation part having a second color filter for radiating transmissive light of a third color when being irradiated with the second light source. The pixel formation part is alternately radiated by the first light source and the second light source, and transmissivities of the first sub-pixel formation part and the second sub-pixel formation part are independently controlled.
