PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save energy both in a boiling step and in a warming step. SOLUTION: The electric kettle has warming control means configured to execute the heat retaining control at a predetermined warming temperature by stopping the output to heating means as water boils when the temperature detected by temperature detecting means reaches such a prescribed temperature as not to generate steam, and to execute the warming control at a warming control temperature lower than the predetermined warming temperature by a prescribed value when there is no operation input in the period from boiling till a prescribed time elapses when an energy saving course is selected. When the energy saving course is selected, the output to the heating means is stopped as water boils when the temperature detected by the temperature detecting means reaches the prescribed temperature not to generate steam in a boiling step. "When there is no operation input in the period from boiling till the prescribed time elapses, the warming control is executed at the warming control temperature lower than the set warming temperature by the prescribed value in a warming step.
