<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rib retractor auxiliary instrument which stops bleeding at a cut end part of a sternum, prevents fractures of the sternum, and prevents detrition of the cut end part of the sternum in excluding the sternum on which a median sternotomy is performed, and a rib retractor on which the rib retractor auxiliary instrument is mounted. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rib retractor auxiliary instrument 10 includes an elastic body 20 which is pressed against a cut end of bone marrow of the sternum 40 on which the median sternotomy is performed and a supporting member 11 for supporting the elastic body 20, and the supporting member 11 is bent inward of the surface.
