<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image correction processing device which can properly correct display unevenness of a display device according to observer's situation, to provide a method for controlling the same, and to provide a program. <P>SOLUTION: A first output unit which outputs a correction value for correcting a brightness characteristic of a display image displayed in a plurality of divided regions when a display screen is divided into the plurality of divided regions is included. A second output unit which outputs the correction value for correcting the brightness characteristic of the display image on the display screen is included. Observation environment information indicating a relation between the display screen and the observer is inputted. At least one of the first output unit and the second output unit is selected based on the inputted observation environment information.
