<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for suppressing generation opportunity of operation sound caused by execution of initial operation as much as possible while achieving power saving. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A main control part writes information indicating use history of option equipment on a history information storing part (YES in (#1), (#2)) when using the option equipment. A main control part receives switching notification to a sleep mode (YES in (#3)) to transmit history information stored to the history information storing part to a sub-control part during a normal mode (#4) and the sub-control part stores the information (YES in (#11) and (#12), (#13)). Thereafter, the sub-control part transmits the stored history information to the main control part (YES in (#14), (#15)) when detecting switching to the normal mode. The main control part instructs execution of initial operation of each part excluding the option equipment (#8) when it receives history information (YES in (#5) and (#6)) and option equipment without having use history exists (NO in (#7)).
