<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical activated carbon adsorbent which never requires a special technology and a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The activated carbon with a porous body as a base material is manufactured by impregnating edible oil, other waste oils, and the like in a porous diatomaceous earth and fire-heating the same to allow carbon to be adhered to a micropore structure portion. Zeolite, porous ores, ceramics, glass foaming materials, and the like can be utilized as the porous body. Since a porous raw material itself can be used as an oil adsorbent in oil efflux accidents occurring from traffic accidents, disasters, accidents in plants and the like and chemical liquid efflux, inventory thereof itself serves as preparations for urgency.
