<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for improving convenience as compared with the conventional while securing power saving and image quality. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A controller switches to a normal mode (#2) when receiving image data from external equipment during a sleep mode (YES in (#1)). When detecting switching to a normal mode (YES in (#11)), a sub-control part transmits power supply mode information indicating the fact to a main control part (#12). The main control part executes initial operation including color regulation operation in each part of a composite machine (#23) when it receives the power supply mode information after start (YES in (#21) and (#22)) and the received image data are color image data (YES in (#24)). When the main control part receives the power supply mode information and the image data are monochrome image data (NO in (#24)), initial operation excluding the color regulation operation is executed (#25).
