<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defrosting device effective even to a heat exchanger having a curved section. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This defrosting device for the heat exchanger for mechanically removing frost attached to a cross fin coil type heat exchanger 26 having plane sections 26a, 26b and the curved section 26c, is composed of a brush 3 disposed corresponding to a part of high heat exchanging performance, of the heat exchanger 26 and inserted among fins 1, constituting the heat exchanger 26 to scrape off the frost from among the fins 1 and a moving means 4 for moving the brush 3 along clearances among the fins 1. Since much frost is formed on the part of high heat exchanging performance in the cross fin coil type heat exchanger 26 having the plane section 26a and the curved section 26c, the heat exchanging performance of the part can be easily recovered by mechanically removing the frost on the part.
