<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce combustion noise, and to improve exhaust gas, in a fuel injection device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This fuel injection device 1 has a fuel injection valve 2 bored with a nozzle port 2c for injecting a fuel spray, and an ECU 8 for controlling an injection quantity and the injection timing of the fuel injection valve 2. This ECU 8 injects fuel by being divided into a plurality of times, and increases the respective injection quantities of divided respective injections when the injection quantity is an increasing process, and expands an interval of the respective injections. Thus, the fuel for premixed combustion is increased, and a utilization factor of air in a combustion chamber is improved, and a quick combustion progress is restrained, and the combustion noise is reduced, and generation of NOx, CO and smoke can be restrained.
