PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the generation of insert of molten metal into the joint part of bricks during using, in the case of using a dolomite brick at the brickwork of a VOD (Vacuum Oxygen Decarburization) pan; and to restrain the fall-down of the brick and the deterioration of brick service life caused by the insertion of the molten metal. SOLUTION: A method for brick-working the VOD pan 2, uses with the dolomite brick 3 containing 30-60 mass% CaO and 40-70 mass% MgO. As the dolomite brick 3, having the same height of 100-150 mm, is used. Depending on this invention, the stress in the vertical direction acted on the brick is relaxed and the stress acted in the joint part of the bricks is uniformly dispersed and competing crack, etc., is not generated and thus, the insertion of the molten metal into the joint part is restrained.
