The arrangement has an electronic-pneumatic control and regulating unit (10), and branch channels formed as buffer flow channels (6) at an inlet channel and an outlet channel of a reciprocating piston engine (1). A compressor and a pneumatic motor (9) are integrated into the buffer storage. A compressed air is supplied from the buffer memory to the pneumatic motor, where the compressed air is produced and compressed in a process control manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for pneumatic energy recovery with reciprocating piston engine.
