ELECTRODELESS DISCHARGE LAMP AND LUMINAIRE

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp and a luminaire capable of suppressing a decrease in the amount of light immediately after lighting by maintaining amalgam at the critical temperature or above immediately after lighting even in a cool environment. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp 1 includes: an amalgam (metal container 11) provided in a glass bulb 2 of a glass spherical shape filled with a discharge gas; and a coupler 15 consisting of a cylindrical ferrite core 9 and an induction coil 10 installed in a cavity 4 formed in the bulb 2. The cylindrical ferrite core 9 is divided into a plurality of cylindrical core pieces 9a and 9b by the axial vertical dividing lines a and b. The part 9b of the cylindrical core pieces 9a and 9b has the Curie temperature, which is lower than that of the other cylindrical core piece 9a, and which is the critical temperature or above at which amalgam is changed from liquid to solid phase.
